Me in The Mess Tin, 2016
Oiled Clay, acrylic paint, tin
Variable sized

The aluminium lunch box is the national memory of People’s republic of  China, and the objects with the same appearance belong to different individuals; this work is an exploration of the artist's self-identity and individuality after the era of the planned economy. Within the limited size, in the recessed space, the artist realised the difficulty of shaping the appearance, then restored his closed eyes with the question about whether he would wake up or continue to sleep. When the lid of the lunch box is buckled, the work will also be indistinguishable from other industrially produced lunch boxes.
